First of all, does anyone know of a decent, (and free,) video uploading site?
second, I've tried to transfer a song to my bookport, but it says that variable bit rate MP3's are not supported. I assume parts of this song are done in different bitrates. I've tried to save it as a .wav, I've tried to change it all to one bitrate but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?
Yeah, did you try a different bitrate? And the bookport only plays.mp3 files. can't help you with the variable thing, or the video uploading site. Try youtube.com. I think that they are free.
As for the bitrate, try 128 KBPS for the bitrate and see if that works.
youtube.com has got this verification code during sign up. www.putfile.com is more accessible i think.
I can't help with the other questions.
A lot of devices don't support VBR mp3s. i always rip to a fixed bit rate of 192 kbps due to this. if it's an audio book, I'll rip it at 128kbps to conserve space but I don't like music at that low of a bit rate due to too much high frequency flutter and artifacts etc. Most programs you can rip with, such as CDEX, let you specify a fixed or variable bit rate with high and low variables. You can usually disable this, or, just set the high and the low bit rate to the same number; same effect as disableing vbr. as for a batch converter you can do that with, I am pretty sure you can do it in sonar, sound probe, and sound forge. not sure about adobe audition etc. As far as a straight ahead batch converter, try im2 audio converter. it's not free but it does a great job!
thing is, I didn't rip it, I downloaded it.
